No, I realise that. Songs of Faith and Devotion is probably my favourite, really. Violator would be next, probably.

For all it's niggles, Exciter is growing on me; at first I thought it was very poor.

Does anybody have any sure fire, tried, tested and certified way of getting rid of the "infinite loop" effect?

The scientifically suggested way of getting rid of earworms (part of a song stuck in your head) is to sing the song from the beginning to the end, at which point the short term memory loop is usually busted.  In the US, the most common Earworms are popular songs turned into 30 second jingles, as your brain tries to figure out the rest of the words for the song in question.  Another common way of getting one is the morning alarm, where you only hear a small portion of the song before hitting snooze.

Ahhh, another SOFAD fan. Yeah, it would have to be SOFAD, Violator, Black Celebration in that order for me.

I have to agree totally... but I find it hard to get the motovation to play the album though... I tend to get the urge for one song from Exciter and then I'm done... with the other Albums I listen to one song, and then I want another and I end up listening to the whole album.

@Tigger

That's interesting. I'll have to try that next time I get an 'earworm' :-)

If the track is instrumental, I assume the trick is to hum or whistle it instead?

@Tigger

Hey, I got another one today and tried your suggestion. You know, it actually worked :-D

I wonder who actually researched this little phenomenon in order to arrive at this solution?

I read that as "Gah, I have a sock stuck on my head...."

Must be that morning-after fuzziness that's doing it...

get a 10 hour playlist going on the PC and play it for a week...

Constantly.

:-D

I do that.  I call it music exorcism.  Proven effective against Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue.

My playlist is already well in excess of 10 hours, and that's just at work :-)

The one at home is just.... silly.
