@red,
I know you're frustrated. Don't blame you because I feel the exact same way. Perhaps it was, in fact, a faux pax to bring the fight over, but I understand your initial reasons for doing so.
@rogue,
You really, really need to chill with the ultimatums and realize that these people are -- in fact -- either customers or more importantly, potential customers. While I don't necessarily think it was appropriate to transplant a war in a thread, Red being called a Genesi supporter is pretty damned stupid.
That being said, you need to face the fact that every single one of us has a right to be extraordinarily frustrated with the progress or lack thereof with OS4.
It's been five years of the same vague, non-committal "lies" and dialog from the same exact company (regardless of who they changed their name to/from) and to be frank, people are getting tired of getting smoke blown up their bums. If you can't handle the fact that people have different opinions, then perhaps you have strayed a bit too far from the holy worship grounds where your arse is kissed and your godliness secured on a daily basis.
Whether you like us or not is irrelevant. Whether you like the whining and {bleep}ing or not is irrelevant. Your job is not to tell us how to feel or to change the way we react to yet another instance of vague comments and promises from TPTB. Your job is to first finish the damned OS, then to work to overcome the mountain-sized obstacles that have been lobbed in your way (where the community is concerned) by 5 years of complete mismanagement by Amiga Inc and even Hyperion.
While I understand both Red's, and your frustration, both of you have acted a little outside the box and I guaran-damn-tee you that if you stick to job #1 and get the damned OS finished, the job of winning back the community is going to get a hell of a lot easier.
