Any chance of someone getting a set of two for me and posting them over to Australia? Happy to kick in a few dollars for your trouble.

As a matter of fact I bought 6 from QVC when they first came out. I'd be willing to sell 2 new, unopened C64DTVs at my cost. They are the QVC version not the Kaybee toy version, so the cost would be the QVC cost and not the current Kaybee cost.

Let me know.

Looks like an awesome little unit. I might have to grab one when we see them here in Australia.

As for the fella with the shipping concern to Australia - shipping would probably cost USD20. Shipping to AU is OK, Shipping from AU is expensive.

Still USD20 postage on a $20 item :(

redrumloa: Yeah thanks but the 10 USD pricing each was more what I was after.

USD 20 seems a bit much as they weigh 250g each. Even putting it at 750g brings it up to $14USD shipping.

So what I was looking at paying was 20 for the two items, 5 for someone's effort + 14 for shipping (it probably would only cost 10USD if under 500g) = 39 all up.

But yeah I suppose I can wait a little bit anyway - pal version is probably less hassle.

The Commodore C64 DTV looks very exciting unit, PAL launch will be April 2005 in the UK.

Now wouldn't it be really good if Amiga Inc licenced an A1200 in as a driect to tv device?

That would really kickstart the Amiga market- plenty of interest in retro devices at the moment.

That would be cool, Even an A500 in a joystick/pad would kick ass. A500DTV yay. :-D

I bought one of these things from QVC for my kids.  Oh, OK, I bought it for me really, but my kids love it.

I feel there could easily be a market for a more advanced version of the C64DTV where it is placed in a small box with a keyboard, two joystick ports and a flash card slot so that it could be used as a "real" C64 and other programs could be loaded from the card.  An additional expansion slot where a module enabling "real" C64 or modern drives to be connected could also be useful.

It would interest people who want more than what the C64DTV has to offer, but who don't want to piddle around building a CommdoreOne.
A2000, A3000, 2 x A1200T, A1200, A4000Tower & Mediator, CD32, VIC-20, C64, C128, C128D, PET 8032, Minimig & ARM, C-One, FPGA Arcade... and AmigaOne X1000.

I did say probably. That isnt a firm quote. Obviously my estimate isnt too bad, not like I am $10 or more out.

The A1200 can already be a direct to TV device if it wants to be :)

I agree something inexpensive like the C64DTV would be a goodway to kick the Amiga in the guts again. The problem with most Amiga bits is they are very expensive (look at accelerators and add-ons).

I've never been into the C64...but that is awesome...how the heck is it so cheap????

I remember being blown away by Jeri's demos at Amiwest and (obligatory sexist joke) I was occasionally looking at the C-One.

More power to them - by the way, who are the other team members on the Easter Egg picture?

Because it uses cheap and common components.

I thought the world was fresh out of AGA chipsets and stuff?

If a device like this was released for Amiga- it would swell the userbase of Amiga owners once more.  It would reignite interest in the Amiga and boost sales for us retailers.

Someone would have to come up with the Amiga chipset on a chip or maybe a minature UAE computer.

Fair point. That said, the amiga already is a DTV device :-) I know what you mean though...

I've often wondered about the boxer style approach of using some FPGAs. I don't see it as a trivial task with the available information though. If it were done, I'd like to see  a little more horespower though, specifically in the memory interface (that Access Amiga Clone thing had much faster chip ram access than any other amiga machine) and preferably a faster CPU, even if it were only an 030.
