Just ordered a couple of SMD 2MB 16bit wide flash chips from Futurelec to play with.

Will be able to hold a few KS images which can be swtich selectable.

Don't flash chips usually work at 3.3 Volts?

Some do, some don't.

generally the designations 29F denote 5V operation,
while 29LV denotes 3.3V operation.

Most flash manufacturers have PDF docs on their sites.
www.amd.com springs to mind.

I'm planning on updating my DC-KF500 package at some point soon with A1200/A4000 circuits.

One thing to watch out for is the diff revisions of the A4000 mobo, some have the 2 rom sockets 'side by side' under the CPU board, others(AFAIK the CR version) have them 'end to end' at the edge of the mobo by the CPU card.

The A1200 version is easy enough, just do the old 'upside down PLCC socket over gayle' to get the extra signals you need.
On schedule, and suing

Futurlec is excellent for getting hard to find parts. I ordered some things from them a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully I'll be getting them soon.
Not sure, but i thought that www.futurlec.com.au gave prices in AUD, and www.futurlec.com gave them in USD.

I must have missed the flash roms that you mentioned.

@Cartmanau
So he's closing down? Bummer!

I think I finished downloading the lha file, have to check.

Tried AMD yesterday for a datasheet. AMD didn't seem to know the chips I have, but third party pay-for-membership/dl sites did. Grrrr.

Hi Generale,
I wasn't aware of the futurlec AU site.

Strangely the product range is not identical on each site.
On the Flash chip page for example, 29F400, 29F800 are missing on the AU site.
Both of these chips are perfect for using as KS replacements, using an SMD-DIP adapter.

I've ordered 4 of the 29F016 chips (2MBx8), plus a few 29F800's from the non-AU site to play with.

Cheers,
Red

@RedskullDC

No wonder I missed them. Different parts on the different sites. Tsk Tsk.

P.S. Are there any PC utils that open .guide files (don't say notepad. You know what I mean!)
