PCI cards with Amiga bridgeboard ??? Is this possible ???
« on: February 19, 2005, 06:54:42 AM »
Another question. I know that a bridgeboard like the A2386SX can use real ISA cards. But on german Ebay I noticed this EISA Riser card with 3 ISA and 2 PCI slots. The obvious question is you insert this riser card in your Amiga with Zorro+ISA slots that you can use real PC PCI cards when using the Bridgeboard in pc mode ??? For example, if you want to run the 386 PC board with a 4 Mb PCI gfx card and Fortemedia soundcard and so on ...  :-o

Well, an EISA card won't fit in an ISA slot, so there's your first problem. You're second problem is that you don't have any of the glue necessary to make it work (i.e. the PCI bus controller). So, it's not possible. . . . (And while there may be lines running from the EISA edge connector to the PCI and ISA slots, they wouldn't work in a standard EISA slot either. That board is probably designed as a riser for a specific mainboard.)
