Killer Cakes! :-(
« on: March 10, 2005, 05:16:01 AM »
Greetings,

Local news has reported not more than 30 kids died as a result of eating cafeteria food prepaired during recess. The menu was a Cassava Cake. It's just awful! Health officials still investigating what made these cassava cakes a deadly poison! :-o I suspect Cyanide poisoning or mercury poisoning. :-(
/silence for the kids who died.

Greetings,

More on the story. Poor kids never stand the chance of Cyainide poisoning. Even the person and her children, who sold the cassava cakes, were hospitalized when she consume some of it. She survived but her kids did not. :-(

Officials detected traces of canogens which produces cyanide when injested. They're still unsure what causes this and took some samples for further analysis. The children where rushed to the nearest hospital, since they're all located in a remote area, it took 3 hours for them to reach the hospital. Most of them died on the way. I've seen the evening news report, and saw the cofins carried in mass burial. Most of the families were poor people who can't afford a decent burial for their kids.

For the survivors, they are still recovering. I've seen on TV their class rooms with their bags and things on their desk. I just could not sleep that time seeing it. All of them were on their first grade.

23 out of 26 children suffered and died becuase of it! How terrible!! My condolences to them again.

Regards,

The sad thing is, there's a reasonable enough chance this could've occurred naturally... It's amazing what people have figured out how to eat.  Google finds this group working to prevent it, among others.  :-(

...and before anyone gets uppity, think of this before you tuck into your bowl of good and 'normal' Texas chili.
