Ambient was generally seen as by far the weakest part of MorphOS. Whoever ports it to AROS better be ready to work on it a lot.

Pity the WarpOS / PowerUP emulation didn't go GPL...

I have to admit, I found the recent events regarding MorphOS pretty depressing. I rather liked the idea that a 'rival' amiga OS was being actively developed. I think that in reality, both 'camps' benefitted from this rivalry (not the outright FUD and flamefest nonsense, I mean at the technical development level). Competition pushes development like nothing else.

There's nothing magical about the WOS/PUP emulation, it's a wrapper, with some simple tricks for register handling, AFAIR. OS4 can't do such tricks because of its lib stub system and other limitations. If OS4 is ever to do the nice stuff MOS does, it'll need some really convoluted solutions.

Read the change-logs between 1.29 and 1.40  :-o

It is still mising a few things, but there is obvious progress.

And even 1.29 offers much more than wanderer atm, so an AROS-port wouldn't be that bad of an idea. But only if they can get Zune up to par with MUI(4.0).
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

This is the kinda stuff I was thinking of when people wondered about parts of MOS coming over to the dard side ... hope someone can pick it up and run with it!

Wonder if anyone will compile it for use on an A1 ?!

Thanks to David Gerber for releasing the work ...
