Any SCART to S-Video Adapter with Stabilizer in the US?
« on: January 07, 2005, 06:32:49 PM »
I was wondering what is the best way to connect my A500(not with a 520 Modulator) to a SVGA screen or a good quality TV and I was recomeded that the best(and cheapest) way to get an amiga to Scart adapter and then connect it to a good quality TV. My concern is that I was a TV with a regular Composite Input. I was recomended to use the Scart Stabilizer shown bellow since if also fixes the Flicker of HAM and higher resolution modes.

Does anybody sell these in the US?

Any recomendations?

Thanks

Mike

I've tried using an Amiga SCART cable on my multi-system TV.

Long story short, it didn't work as the TV doesn't support RGB. AFAIK, the Amiga SCART cable needs an RGB capable TV, in order to work. :-(

EDIT: Oh, that little box in the link handles RGB...that's a different story. :-)

The best way would be to use a good RGB upscan converter like the Micomsoft XRGB-2 and a suitable cable.  But, this is going to cost you much more than the A500 is worth.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

BTW Where can I get the Amiga to Scart Adapter cable. I have seen a couple on E-bay. Is there a different scart for NTSC, PAL?

BTW, if you're looking for a cheap S-Video adapter check this out.  I have a later model and use it with my A600 with good results (mine has an actual S-Video plug, not seperate chroma/luma outputs like this one).  It's not as good as RGB, but leagues better than RF or composite.

Erm... well, AFAIK, a SCART cable will do you almost no good whatsoever in the US.  We don't have TVs that have SCART inputs!  :-)
