The Goal that should have counted

Last night, Manchester United faced Spurs in the Barclays premiership at Old Trafford. The match ended 0-0 but towards the end of the game, United keeper Roy Carroll came out of his goal to kick the ball out. He was running back to his goal when the ball fell to Spurs midfielder Pedro Mendes, who took a shot that clearly went into the goal. Carroll pushed it out, but the ball did cross the line, therefore a goal should have been given and Spurs should have won the game 1-0. But as the Linesman and Referee didn't have a good view, they didn't give the goal. It is absolutely outrageous!

What I ask is this.

If a footballer commits a fould but the referee doesn't see it. He still gets in trouble after the game because of camera footage.

So 2 things need addressing here.

Firstly the goal keeper is guilty of unsporting conduct and should be disciplined for this, just like Wayne Rooney was last week for the shoving incident.

Secondly, if the camera footage is deemed "good enough" to judge whether the players have done wrong, then therefore it should also be good enough to judge ALL decisions that officals couldn't judge during the game.

right in the sense that the endless drivel about who had to do what on the field is plain annoying.

watching it with a couple of friends (who watch the match in a civilized manner) is very enjoyable I think.

If you hate Man U then you should be annoyed that the goal wasn't allowed.

They would have lost if it was allowed.

I'm a Man U fan threw and threw as some will know here ;-) and there is no denying that it's clearly a goal.
What goes around comes around, every team gets robbed one way or the other at times, and Man U is no exception. Clearly since the shot was taken so far out the ref and i take it the linesman where not in the best of places to call it.

Having said all that, they do need new ways of tackling this problem, be it a 2nd or 3rd opinion, video evidence or whatever. Something that doesnt slow the pace of the beautiful game down to much.

I think we have all lost count on the amount of f**k ups on the refs and linesmen part, some of which have been quite ridiculous.

There only human i know, blind maybe at times but still....

Oh I'm well aware of that. No point getting annoyed about it though.
I've seen my own team both benefit and suffer from bad decisions too many times to get upset over it.

And anyway, despite the fact that I spend a four figure sum watching football every year, I always remember it's just a game.
A fair few of my mates take it *way* too seriously.
