@ Cyberus

The 45th had that design before Hitler:

They changed to the other patch after Hitler started using the Swastika.

the chinese has that design before everybody.

it's actually a nice graphic.

which is why hitler took it and used it. those nazi's really knew how to make attractive uniforms.
the no CARB diet- no Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld or Bush.

Well, tis Art Deco/Jugendstil. I really like Jugendstil.
But you shouldn't come up with these kinda comments here in Europe, since the memories of the terror that came with it are really vivid.

I'm sorry, have to admit something -I was trolling. See, I can be childish sometimes.
But the people I was baiting didn't respond, it was all you bloody liberals/Europeans/socialists instead ;-)

It is a very old symbol. While we're on a similar subject - pentagrams also have a similar negative association. I understand it was a symbol of protection long before it became a symbol of satanic hate

They also carry machineguns which are based on and look like 1942 German MG42s, carry anti-tank weapons similar to the 1944 panzerschreck, and have you ever noticed how their present full head-cover helmet design is very like the old German Waffen SS one? Even their fatigues look a bit like Western Waffen SS ones.

Compare:

Waffen SS

to

Modern American GIs

Bad comparison pictures, there were better ones, but I can't be bothered scouring google. :)

To the victors go the spoils, of course. The German army knew its stuff when it came to warfare, the Americans just nicked the technology (or rediscovered it, even).

i know that sweetie, but I CAN separate the graphic quality of a design from the b.a.s.t.a.r.d.s. that used it and their anti-human actions.

....don't forget, my greatuncle spent some time in a german POW camp (before he escaped).

and other relatives had their shop bombed (which they rebuilt after the war), and other things happened to other family members, blah, blah, blah.....

I was responding only to the design in a professional manner.
(well, ok, I added a bit of sacasim in there  :-D  )

"The German army knew its stuff when it came to warfare, the Americans just nicked the technology"
-------------

Kenny, you know better than that. The Italians had sub-machine guns in 1915. (see Villar Perosa) Even the Thompson sub-machine gun was years before the Germans. As for machine guns, see the Gatling gun from the American civil war era, or the Maxim from 1885. "In 1881 the American inventor, Hiram Maxim, visited the Paris Electrical Exhibition. While he was at the exhibition he met a man who told him: "If you wanted to make a lot of money, invent something that will enable these Europeans to cut each other's throats with greater facility." "The success of the Maxim Machine-Gun inspired other inventors. The German Army's Maschinengewehr and the Russian Pulemyot Maxima were both based on Maxim's invention."
If you\\\'re still voting Democrat, you\\\'re stuck on stupid!

The best military equipment is always copied.

The german helment is the best design, offering protection without restricting movement. That's why present designs mimic it. In the 1930-40's era, Germany was the only country that could mass produce the shape. The American compromise in WWII was the bowl shape. When the US Army switched to the Kevlar helment which could be made in any shape, studies showed the german shape was still the best design for a military helment.

They spent a lot of time on the design, and money providing the uniforms to their army, because of the psychological intimidation factor and symbolism.

Still provokes very strong emotions today.
