Help! Game IDENTICAL to Shadow of the Beast
« on: September 25, 2004, 08:52:54 AM »

Hi everyone,

I had 2 Amiga 500s and 2 Amiga 1200s in my time.. and still have my 1200 actually (it's not hooked up, lol)

Anyhow, I'm trying to figure out the name of this game which was VERY similar to Shadow of the Beast part 1.

It had an amazing intro/demo- the part I remember most is of some sort of a goblin/character runing towards the screen- it was done in an animation sort of style, and it took place at night, in a stone/cobbled path village, and I think it may have started out with a view high above the ground, with a crow in the foreground, and then it scrolled downwards. I know for sure that the VERY start of the demo had a constant cricket sound in the background, which played through most of the demo, if not all.

The main game was pretty well IDENTICAL to Shadow of the Beast I, it had unbelievably similar graphics and the music was even closer- sounded like they ripped off the samples from Beast. The graphics were different, had different characters, backgrounds, etc. but they were probably a bit better, since it came out later.

One difference was when you tried to turn your character in the opposite direction from which he was running, it would take a fraction of a second longer (like a lag, almost).

Can anyone remember this? I think it was an incredible game- the developers obviously used Beast I as their inspiration. The graphics were definitely better and so was the intro. The main character was almost like a Tarzan sort of guy.

Thanks!

Sorry... i guess I should have included the fact that it was also developed for the Amiga... 500, if I'm not mistaken.

Ah yes. I remember being amazed by that game when I saw it on a friends computer! Nice parallax scrolling. Very difficult though after a few stages...

I had the CDTV version for my A500+A570 setup and thought it was garbage.  Are you telling me it's actually worth playing and I should give it another try?
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I wouldn't bother.  I had the C64 version and they didn't even bother to make it support the power-ups.  Of course it was designed for Amiga but I couldn't get past the third level.

@adolescent

Well, if you didn't like it I wouldn't really bother anymore. Personally, I found it enjoyable but rather hard.
