Power Tower 1200 led panel question.

The Power Tower 1200 led panel has a pair of wires (red and black) going from it, and ending with a 2-pin female connector. I thought that this connector was intended for a connection with SCSI led pins on your SCSI controller, or similar (e.g. to make the HD activity led work when ever SCSI hard drive is active) however it seems to be used for something else.

What is this 2-pin female connector intended for? :-?

Are you asking about the one I accidently snipped?  :-o

If so, I think I've remembered why there's two of them. One of them indicates floppy activity and the other indicates harddrive activity.

I'm kind of suprised Elbox doesn't have an online guide for the tower or something.

Yeah, that's the one. :-)
I've fixed it, but nothing happens when the connection is made with my SCSI drive. The hard drive outputs +5V through it's external LED indicator pins. Perhaps the HD activity LED on the case itself requires more power?

Anyway, when ever there's floppy activity, the HD led flashes. This happens by default, so the 2-pin red/black connector is definitelly not for floppy activity.

Amiga towers tends to have 3 LEDs, and red is normally used for hdd activity, yellow for diskdrive activity and green for power on.

Even though some towers have connectors like you descripe it doesn't go anywhere on the Amiga motherboard. I think it's because some towers are aiming at using a specifik keyboard adaptor.

I have a RBM tower for my A1200, and it has the same connectors, so I had to hack all 3 LEDs in order to get them working/connected. I later found out that there where a specifik keyboard adaptor for my tower, which has the prober connectors for the LEDs...

This is what my Power Tower manual says:

'To use the Turbo Switch (it's labelled 'Turbo' btw) to control some function of an expansion card, you should now attach the red and black cable from the LED interface board to an appropriate jumper on your expansion card. If you do not do this, the Turbo button will nave no function (although the light will still go on).'

In other words it's a spare switch.

The Micronik Infinitiv has a similar connector. It can be connected to the Reset pins on some Zorro busboards.

I have the newer model power tower that has no turbo button but has one that says standby.
