Doomy,

How the heck are you finding so many Amigas at Thrift stores???  I have been searching for years and have never once found an Amiga.  I have found Commodore and Atari's but never an Amiga.  You have found Amiga 600's, Amiga 1200's and Amiga 2000's, what else have you found?  Are all these in the Beaverton area?  Just curious.

I've come across 3 or 4 myself at a local thrift store, they had 2 or 3 2000's including an HD model a few years ago, and I heard that they even had a 3000 and possibly even a Toaster-equipped one at one point!  I never bought any of them though, just don't have the space or time for any more Amigas :(

BTW, TjLaZer, I have a pic of myself at an A500 in a corner that is SO much like your avatar it's scary ;)  If I ever find it I'll have to upload it for a laugh.

Most Goodwill stores will not accept computers that are older then 1992.  So, I spoke to the person that is in charge of the electronics department and told him that I would buy ALL Amiga and Atari ST computers that folks wanted to donate and I gave him a printed list of what I wanted.  So, now when someone wants to donate an Amiga or Atari ST computer they will not be told no and turned away.  I have been going to these same Goodwill stores in my area for a few years now, so the people know me.  I try to go to these Goodwills every day.  Also the Goodwill Outlets will accept ANY and ALL computer donations no matter how old they are.  This is where I find the Atari ST stuff.  This is also where I find the rare 41256 and 44256 DRAMs and the rare Teac and Chinon disk drives that will work with the Amiga and Atari ST computers.  These rare DRAMs and disk drives come in old PCs.  I buy the whole PC for $5.00 just to get them.  Lots of times I even find 8 beautiful NEC 44256 DRAMs, made in Japan, on the older video cards and most of the time they are socketed.  I also find tons of Amiga software disks in disk banks.  I also find the SCSI hard drives here that work with the Amiga and Atari ST.  The Goodwill Outlet is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to find.   :-D

Doomy,

Good idea.  Maybe I should go to my local Goodwill and talk to them.  I know that they do not carry monitors any more.  I picked up a nice Atari 400 for 99 cents the other day.  lol  I would love to find a Amiga 1200 or 2000 though!!!  A few years ago I passed on a 1040STf computer, but did get the JVC SC1224 monitor for $5 as a spare.  I could really use that 1040ST now as I have one that has a bad video problem.  Video flickers when turned on.
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

But, I am not selling it on eBay

The description of the Amiga on eBay forum says that it is the for sale forum. It's not hard to figure it out, really.

Doomy,

I am pretty sure I know who you are now.  The DRAMs for Amigas and STs is a dead give away.  I was trying to get some for my A2091 card but never could get the high bid on eBay.  I believe I did finally end up buying something on eBay off you (quality stuff mind you) but I had to deal with this insufferable middle-person 'spenceranne'. She (I think) was not the nicest to deal with on eBay (not a 'people-person'). I had other eBayers emailing me worried about their purchases because she/he? doesn't respond to emails for weeks.  Keep up the good work saving Amiga stuff from certain death in Oregon landfills.  My advice to you though, if this is you, is ditch 'spenceranne'.

Hi TjLaZer,

There is an Atari 800 and two disks drive here in the Beaverton Goodwill for only $20.00.  There is also a Commodore 64 for $12.99 and a 1541 disk drive for $7.99.  Everything appears to be in great shape.  I also saw two Wico Bat-Handle joysticks.  There is also an original Atari 800 cartidge that I plugged into the computer.  This way whoever buys the Atari 800 computer will get the cartridge for free.   :-D

Re-seat the Video Shifter chip and make sure the metal tab is touching it.  Also check for leaky caps on the motherboard and replace them.  You may also have a bad video socket.  Is the video connector lose or tight?  Also there may be some faulty solder connections inside the video cable itself where the wires are soldered to the connector.  If you can pull back the plastic hood around the connector then resolder all of the wires. Last, check the DRAMs and make sure that none of them are getting hot to the touch.  If they are then replace them.  I sell the hard to find 41256 and 44256 DRAMs.    :-D
