Did the Lightwave dongle use the parallel port like AutoCad on the PC used to?

I think it was a joystick port one, like Scala... But I'm not sure.  It's been quite a while since I used a stand-alone LightWave Amiga.

IIRC, there was a device use to attach to (?) port, haven't seen those in a while. It can render lightwave using such a device. Even without a Toaster. I think it was called 'LIGHTRAVE'. Just can't remember much of it's feature and availability.

Silly fuzzy memory of mine...

Oops.. sorry that can't be used on PC. I remember!! silly me!!

I think you got the wrong end of the stick, G - we're talking about a plugin 'key' that was needed for lightwave to run on an Amiga.  Lots of PC programs use them on the parallel port, but obviously if it was a joystick one a legit copy of lightwave wouldn't start on an A1 or Peg.

Yep, it was a dongle that plugged into the joystick port, like Scala (in the early days. Later Scala was cheaper and no dongle)
Wasn't the dongle that put me off Lightwave, was the price. I had just paid for the A4000T and all I had left was about £150 for Cinema 4D (if I remember the price correctly, it was 1996 after all)
