68060 libraries
« on: July 11, 2004, 10:36:16 AM »
Been using the libs that came on the disk for my Blizzard 1260 board and they are pretty old so I would like some advice on what is the latest versions to use and where to find them.
Also read something about that you have to rename them, found that info on the unofficial Blizzard 1260 webpage.

Amiga 1200 - Stock
Amiga CD32 - TF360
A bunch of ol' A500's

The latest 060 libs are available on Aminet but those Are Phase5 libs so I don't know if they are newer than those you already have.

About renaming the libs.. that is correct.. you'll have these files in your libs when done:

68060.library - the new 68060.library
68040.library - "dummy lib" linking to right lib for compability
68040old.library - your old 68040.library
68040new.library - the new "real" 68040.library needed for the  060 and "dummy lib".

Why not download it with IBrowse?

*EDIT*
Oh, just tried it myself.
Seems IBrowse can't log on to the FTP since it doesn't need a password.
Slightly bored and severly confused..

A follow up question:

Doesn't OS3.9 with the latest Boingbag updates have the latest 68xxx libraries?

The latest BB in 3.9 removes the need for the 040 dummy libs. You no longer need to do that with the latest libs unless you want to have them AFAIK.

Hi Acill

fundamentally right :-) but i've found an app (don't remember which) that ask for those "dummy 040". . . .so if you haven't problems, with the latest 3.9 BB2 SetPatch, you can install only the 060 one.

Ciao

Installed the newer 060 libs but didn't gain any more speed... just some more options I don't need I guess.
