It's possible. You need at least 2 MB of RAM and Kickstart 2.04.
I have an A600 with only 4 MB of fastram and 2 MB chip and a 2GB CF card HD and works perfectly.
The only issue you can have with a 68000 processor is that in some games the Quit key doesn't work.
