I have a desktop A1200 with Blizzard 1260 50MHZ and a SCSI-kit. I don't close the trapdoor, because it's getting very hot. As you know a 060 isn't power hungry . The SCSI-kit can take double-sided simms, but they must have the size of 1mm thinkness. You be better of to find a single-sided simm. My amiga 1260 has 2x64 MB of SIMMs. The memory speed with a SCSI-kit is the same as without a SCSI-kit.
Has your Blizzard 040 the same cooler as a DCE version? Look at
