I don't have any info about the Viper 1260/56. But I can answer your compare question. A 060/56 Mhz uses lesser power than a 040/40MHz and it's about two times faster then a 040/40 MHz.

The only differences with an Blizzard 1260 are Optional Fast SCSI controller and can hold up to 128 MB SIMMs.

Don't forget to buy Oxypatcher to speed up the FPU instructions.

I misspelled the program wrong.

It's Oxyron Patcher. You can buy it from Vesalia for 19,95 Euro

I swapped the Blizzard 1260 twice before I had a full-working and stable card. The first 1260 was stable, but I couldn't turn the card of with the '2' key and the second one crashed everytime when I use FPU or 060 specific software. I had to wait 9 months to get an working card. It was made by DCE.

In 1994 I bought a Blizzard 1230IV (Phase 5). This card crashed every time, After swapping for another card, it works very well, even today.

In 1996 I wanted to buy Blizzard 1230 SCSI kit. My first doesn't like SCSI-2 devices, only SCSI-1 devices like Apple Power CD. In the end, I have two working SCSI-kits.

I think a Viper 1260/56 is a good value of money.
