All the software you need for the amiga and PC is in that archive...

I bought the commercial package for £10 from wierdscience which includes a parallel cable and an updated version of the software...

right well i've had a look at the files in the archive seem to be fine... it should just be a case of copying the things in the directory "PutToPC" to your PC and everything else to the amiga. Then you should just be able to double click on Install... If your copying the files from your PC to you amiga make sure your copying the .info files over too... also I've put up the amigaguide files as HTML on my own webserver (my amiga). They will be there for the next 6 hours or so.... hope thats some help...

oh and before I forget heres the URL :-)

aha thats it then... the filenames have been truncated by windows....

rename install~1 to install.info

then it should run... though anything with a "~" in it is incorrect... the filenames must match the filenames the guide says you should have... stupid old 8+3 format...

right i'll take you through the manual install process then... seems it might be easier :)

you will need to show all files on the amiga side, you can do this by pressing down the right mouse button to get the menu up, and goto window and then show, all files...

heres the step by step guide:

1. copy everything from the c directory to your C: directory (in your workbench partition (show all files) c)

2. copy PC2AmParallel.device from the devs directory to your Devs: (found in workbench:devs/)

3. copy everything from l to your l directory (again workbench show all l)

4. copy the igs.library from the libs directory to your libs: (workbench:libs/)

5. right now ive gone to the liberty of doing this bit for you (configuring it) ive assumed your using a standard parallel laplink cable so copy this file and this one to somewhere, make sure you put them both in the same place the PC.info file is the con for the PC file...

that should be it... now run the program on the PC then double click on the PC file you downloaded from me... and you should get a PC icon appear on your workbench, open it (double click) and you should hopefully see your windows drives there (all labelled C,D etc)

no... all .info files are icons... all other files are not icons.... say you have a file called spoon, then spoon.info would be the icon for spoon... now if you had a program called fork but there was no fork.info then you can safely say fork doesnt have an icon and therefore wont be visible usually. To be able to view fork and any other files with no icons you would have to "show all" like I described in a post above ^^^^. I hope that helps some... im getting towards the limits of my help here :-)

amigaos isnt case sensetive i dont think, but its always good to use case :-) as for the PC... im not sure of, its slightly different in the commercial package i use, just has a config and a server, both are DOS programs...

anyway the files are still there for you to get... oh and you must run the PC side first then the amiga... if you cant get my files its dead easy to run the amiga config and follow the steps, anything you dont understand just click next, all you should need to do is tell it to use parallel and the special 8 wire if thats what you have.

yeah I had figured that....

I had already said in a previous post you can put PC and PC.info anywhere you like, so long as their kept together... I have it directly in my workench partition so all I have to do is open workbench and double click on PC to mount the network. If it wont n run then well your screwed cos I dont know what to do....

im sure ive already said the files you got from me are called PC and PC.info... they together (.info being the icon) are the moutfile for the network.... the moutfile contains the configuration. Stick them both ANYWHERE on your HDD, both in the SAME location, then DOUBLE CLICK on the PC icon once the PC side of the network is running, and it should work... if it doesnt then I dont know... it should be setup fine if youve followed my simple step by step instructions... The only way I can help further is if i drove down and did it myself.....
