accelerator/SCSI controller for A2000
« on: April 08, 2003, 02:13:57 PM »
I'm back with my banal questions, but you guys are soooo helpful! I wondered if anyone had any advice....
I've acquired an A2000, just the base machine.
Do you think I'm better off just seeing if I can pick up a bog-standard SCSI controller to start with, and then perhaps look for some kind of accelerator? Or do all the better accelerators come with good SCSI controllers anyway?
I've been looking at amiga-hardware.com, and there are some 060 accelerators that look inviting :), but even old A2000 hardware goes for a ridiculous price on ebay... I didn't realise there were so many Amiga enthusiasts with loads of money out there!
I'm toying with the idea of getting rid of a lot of my amigas and just having a nice A2000 and my A1200(T)....
I like Amigas

Thanks for your replies guys.
One of the reasons I asked about the A2000 is that I saw one going on ebay (green screen :-) ), 3GBP no reserve..., and picked it up for 10.50GBP in the end (which I s'pose is about 15USD). I always wanted one of these when I was a kid, and now I have one!
I wouldn't be an Amiga fan if I worried about things being outdated. You wouldn't ask someone who works on and drives his classic Jaguar E-type why he hasn't sold it and bought a newer car would you!

Anyway, I've been doing a bit of reading on the 'net about the wildfire card, and yes, I WANT ONE! But the chances of finding one and not having to pay through the nose are so low.... As I was saying before, even if I did find one on ebay for example, these people always seem to come from nowhere and bid stupid amounts of money. I saw someone buy the Blizzard 1260 on ebay the other day for 200GBP! I'm sure you can still get a new one cheaper from Vesalia!
