I know what you mean about that 'attitude' some Amiga users seem to have. I got a load of abuse hurled at me when I tried to sell something on Amibench, and didn't reply for two days to an offer because I was away visiting friends in another part of the country.

I was selling a complete A4000 system on ebay

Hi
I emailed an offer of up to £300 a couple of days ago but have not yet had the courtesy of a reply. Did my email not get through?

I replied that I had just come back from a few days away and simply had not had time to reply to all emails sent to me. [As if I have some duty to sit in front of my computer all day like some pasty faced geek!]. Anyone who has ever sold anything 'high demand' on Amibench will know the amount of interest it can generate, I think I had somewhere between 15-20 emails with offers for the complete system or for individual components (even though I said I wouldn't split!). Anyway, I replied saying sorry and that I'd been away and hadn't had time to reply to all the emails.

Yes, very good but it doesnt say if the stuff has sold or whether you were
accepting my offer or hanging on for more or what??

There was little point in the response you just sent.

Now the tone of both of these emails had already started to get my back up. Its as if computer geeks DO conform to their stereotype. I bet the guy is some spotty virgin with bad breath and no social skills who uses the internet as a means of overcoming this, but STILL manages to come across as a {bleep}...

So I say that I have decided to keep the stuff (as it happens, I just don't want to deal with this tosspot), and at this point he starts hurling abuse at me and says how he's going to block my email address...

At the point, I decided never to use Amibench again, even though I'd dealt with some great people on there in the past. I've had enough of geeks who chase Amiga hardware with the same zeal that normal men chase women. I encountered this attitude a few times where people thought it was their god-given right to have my computer equipment essentiall given to them.

What I say, is sell on ebay, and screw the tossers that have ruined this 'community'
I like Amigas
