Hey Chris
There's just no way that guy will ever get every song ever recorded. There are enough new releases each week, so many obscure labels and music that simply doesn't get released commercially but is distributed between friends on CDR or even tape (yes, people still use tape!) that it's impossible to keep up.
Heh, imagine if it was possible to have available everything that was EVER recorded.
While we're in the realms of fantasy, imagine if you could hear everything ever composed! So not only all the things that people have thought of and never recorded in the last 100 years or so, but being able to hear music from centuries ago or the first musical creativity from primates....
We are *very* lucky to have recorded music, I don't you think one could ever exaggerate that fact.
Back on topic, after that rambling, I still think it's kind of cool what he's doing. Heh, but imagine all the absolute rubbish there must be there? If you happen to be into records, which in fact I know you are :-) you will have probably uncovered the discs and discs of tat at car boot sales, charity shops and even record shops. When I worked in one, we wouldn't take the Mantovani's Orchestra records, the nth copy of pop albums that were big for a short while, e.g. Vanilla Ice, the tacky 'Hits' collections with a scantily clad woman on the front, etc. Then there's all those 'pop' singles :insane:
Oh and classical recordings... :-o
