Only marginally related, but since auto parts have been brought up...
Those of you who work with TV/RF or other outdoor electrical fittings might be familiar with
this stuff, once available at Radio Shack. It turns out that essentially the same thing is sold in rolls for windshield mounting for... well, you get about a pound of the stuff for not much difference from the little spool.
It could conceivably come in handy for computer noise dampening/etc., assuming you don't mind covering your components with gummy black goo.
