to StormLord

you already have working bpcc board with your resoldering from 040 to 060 ? If yes, i have some quetion about it:

1. 060 and 040 have different pinouts, but it is work without any updates for bppc/68k cpu ?

2. what about oscilators for ppc and 68k ? I mean for my 040 i have 66 mhz oscil, and have 33mhz of speed (/2), if i put 060, i must to use 100mhz oscil? or what ?

3. "and you must change 2 jumpers". what is it? for what ?

4. what abou 3.3v and 5v for 040 and 060 ? as i know 040 work on 5.5v, 060 on 3.3v.

5. "after that you mast FLASH IMEDIATELY the board with an 060 firmware" How i can do it ? Where i can download 060 firmware, etc.

6. do you know maybe, what kind of BGA Sockets i can use for oscilators and for CPU ? (i mean tech.name of socket type).

thanks for answers

Well, and only the silence heard it?:) So, while nobody answers still, I sumarize all info, that I could find on this question. But for first, anyone here _already_ do it this kind of project ? Anyone have worked/resoldered bppc from 040 to 060 ? StormLord ?  Maybe some friends who already do it this ?

Well, i trying to summarize all stuff about flash update/resistors/etc. So, we do it these steps:

1. Resoldering 040 and 2 oscils (68k/ppc) from board, and putting sockets for CPU and 2 oscils on the board. For  sockets oscills we can use standart 8pin DIL IC Socket (split on 2 part). For CPU oscills i don't know still what kind of mostly using in PC world sockets (from 486 maybe?) can be used as CPU socket for 040/060.

2. Putting back 040 for rewriting flash to 060 by BlizzPPC060Update. I hope it can be, becouse flash update it is main problem: if we put 060 and try to start, we can't do it becouse we have flash for 040.

3. Tottaly undesoldering from board one _left_ (first) SMD resistor in end of board (where is 5 SMD resistor and 4 using for clock multiplier). What doing this resistor btw ?

4. Under 68 CPU present bigger resistor for CPU voltage. For 040 it's set to 5V, muts be 3.3v for 68k. (replace or resoldering ?, i am do not view place under 68k on ppc, maybe anyne have good screenshot ?).

5. Putting 060, and start. Enjoying.

And, what about oscils. Here is some bppc revision with one or two oscils. must be change this or can be putting old ?

Sorry for poor english.

yes! thanks to Mugo.

actualy i have the same situation : old bliz060 + y bppc with  040. But, here is little remark :) When i buyed mediator (from 3d party hands) it was totally broken, and i must been resoldered all pci slots/etc. So, for this work/tests i used my bliz060. And for bad karma i just puted P8 and P9 connectors incorrect, and killed my bliz060. I hope dead only board, no CPU itself.

So, i want to resoldering this CPU, and put it on BPPC. I hope here is no problem if my 060 dead (bppc just not will work, and i put 040 to back, or buy new 060 cpu).

Is good that board will start without Flash update (no case for killing flash).

ps. do you use still 50mhz for your new 060, or speed up it some ? (i have 66mhz oscil, for 060 it will be really good i think)

yes! i do it !! i resoldering my 68060 from _dead_ bliz060 board, and put it in my bppc over 040, and now, i have 060 on 3.3v on 66mhz + 603 ppc on 266mhz! It was very cool and interesting project, thanks to Mugo and StormLord for helps for me in emails. Lots of positive moments :)
