I have received my USB SUB and need help in installation...

Hey guys,

I have received my USB SUB and need help in the installation of it. AmigaKit already saved me the hardest part which it he IDE cable installation, thanks AmigaKit . But I have another much more difficult job, and that is which way I need to install the cables for in the other side.

This is my USB SUB right now:

2) I am confused should they be like this:

3) I was not sure which way. So I looked at the manual and thought it should be installed like this:

and if you notice there are two unfilled pins as you can see

So if someone actually have a USB SUB installed and can take a picture of this end of the USB SUB like the way I have taken, that would be super cool. I would be able to look at the picture in details as I have taken here and mimic my installation exactly like the one in the picture you will be showing me. This way I will avoid any damages and this will be an excellent reference for future people who wish to install this into their system. Thanks in advance.

But the image is too far to see and it shows all the pins are filled but with mine I am unable to fill it all.

What am I doing wrong?

Yes your post shows the IDE cable which is already installed and done with. But your diagram and picture does not show the other end. I cannot install the USB SUB until I figure out how to install the other ends. I am always left with missing pins on the USB SUB itself...I am not sure which of the four pins I should leave empty, is it like the picture I send earlier or the one all the way to the left I should leave empty.

It's REALLY easy if you check the RED stripe of the ribbon cable. Left side both on A1200 and Subway (as you look it from above with IC on the lower left part)

it is red green white and black.

NO! You haven't putted them right!!! READ BELLOW!

There is no IDE cable in the schematic.
Maybe you're mistaken the clockport ribbon with it

Anywayz, if you connected the Subway correctly (for the clockport part) then you only miss the USB headers on it.

USB cable has 4 wires...

You can check out their coloring scheme from the following diagram...


so...
we have Red, White, Green and Black (and sometimes depending on the cable one more Black which is GND).

So as you can see from the photo I supplied earlier from E3B's website you can see the Subway's right connectors (Not the clockport ones but the USB header ones) are putted looking it from above like that:


Red, White, Green, Black.

NOTE: If you have a 4wire cable instead of 2 (as I seen from your pictures), you can leave open the 5th pin in every header.
So if you have for example a 4x 4wire pin connectors you should connect them like:

Row 1: Red, White, Green, Black, Open, Red, White, Green, Black, Open
Row 2: Red, White, Green, Black, Open, Red, White, Green, Black, Open

You understood now a bit better?
