How to install the USB sub...

I just ordered the Amiga 1200 USB SUB and before installation I need to ask one final help please, for the sake of the Amiga 1200 and it's new USB SUB.

What I need is a full blown complete detailed pictures step by step from point A to point Z in how to install the USB SUB correctly to avoid dramatic damage to the system and the USB SUB itself. For example detailed picture in how and where to install the cable, in how and where to install the flat cable in the USB sub (that looks like an IDE) and so on. The detail step by step is such that even a 2 year old can do it professionally without a problem.

I also had a history of frying just the 2.5" IDE cable HD (thankfully that is all that got fried)...so I do not want to repeat the problem again resulting in destroying this time the Amiga and the HD. Do you also have step by step (pictures) in how to install the IDE 2.5" cable for my HD (which is coming on Monday) in such that if I destroy the Amiga and the HD then there is complete no excuse (no more an excuse it is an accident) I deserve it because the instructions are there in clear picture.

Do not do it for me, do it for the Amiga 1200 who is helpless under the mercy of a doofis like me Who is just full of errors . Please??!

So if someone have the USB SUB and the IDE cable and willing to take pictures himself in reinstalling it and how to install it and make sure which side of the IDE cable to be inserted in the HD and the motherboard and which way the IDE cable (like) to be inserted in the USB SUB WHICH WAY NOT INSERT IT..and put all of that in a picture not only you will be helping me and my Amiga 1200 but it could be an excellent documentation installation for the rest of the people who wish to install this into their system but are afraid and will be repeating in the future asking these questions, they simply follow this EXCELLENT guide themselves.

Yeah, I blew up one of those by having the little cable going the right direction, but only one row of pins was seated, got to look at it both sides...

They are cool once you get one going though.

That is what I want to avoid. I do not have the luxury of blowing things anymore.  That is why I need such detailed picture that if I look at picture 1 through the end I will have no problem. Pictures of what I should do and pictures of what I should not do, pictures of WHICH way the cable need to be installed and how to be installed not just on the USB SUB itself, but the way it is rotated before inserting, everything no turn left. This will be the MOST perfect guide FOR THE ENTIRE Amiga community. It would make even the manual for any Amiga store look pale in comparison to this guide...this is what we need. Thanks in advance.

Any person who is doing this is not only saving future Amiga hardware from being killed, but helping the entire community in general.

I have one question Matt_H about that picture. You see those two cables, the one I am more scared at is the cable that looks like the IDE. Like what rotating side of the IDE cable do I need to put it on the USB sub? Does it matter what rotate side it is placed or does it need a specific rotation to fit without problem on the USB SUB? You know what I mean? Like this picture does not tell me much. That is how I believe I destroyed the IDE cable of my HD. I can place an IDE cable easy anyone can but it is important what side of the cable be placed and what rotative side it need to be placed. I learned from a friend at work that the red side cable of the IDE need to be placed on PIN 1 of the HD and the motherboard, as you can see on this IDE like cable of the USB sub there is no color code...so how would I know I am placing what in what correctly.

Subway's clockport ribbon cable has a red stripe as well which based on the pic you must have it on the left side as you see it. If you check the picture correctly you will see it both on Subway and Clockport header.

So according to this picture the red ribbon must be on the left side so if I duplicate the look of the USB Sub like that picture where IDE cable is protuing from the top instead of the bottom and the red ribbon is on the left side for the USB sub and on the motherboard the red ribbon is on the left side of the IDE instead of the right of the clockport giving this twisted look of the flat cable like that picture I should be fine, right? So pretty much if I can duplicate the look of my connection to look identical to that picture I should be ok? What I will do is duplicate the look, take a picture of my motherboard and make sure it is close snapshot of everything I will make sure it is completely in details then post them here so you guys can see how they would look like on my Amiga and then you can tell me if I did it correctly or not. I will not turn my Amiga on close the case and screwing it back up again until I get a complete confirmation that my installation is done correctly for both the HD and the USB SUB.

I will also take a picture of my HD and it's ribbon installation and show you where the PN # 1 of my HD is and how it looks like on the motherboard and everything, ones I get a complete confirmation that all of my installation is done correctly and everyone says OK go for it you have done right, then I will hook my Amiga back up again and turn it on with confidence that I have done everything correctly.

If you have your Amiga already opened is it too much to ask if possible you can take different picture steps in showing how to install them correctly from different angels and sides like a guide book? With your hands you show in the picture which side of the cable needs to fit into which side of the USB SUB and how it should look like for both sides of the USB SUB and their cables? These are old pictures from my old setup mate.
It's not something difficult if you pay attention.
Just make sure you're seeing the red stripe in the left side of the clockport connector
and connect it as it shows in my pictures to Subway with red stripe facing left side close to the IC's of Subway.

Just see the pictures clearly and do exactly the same

The only think you should check is whether your Amiga 1200 motherboard has the clockport connector to the right side of the row pins (there is space for 2x Clockport connectors but only the one on the right side of the connector works. The left side connector exists in some revisions and it doesn't work!)

I just discovered my A1200 Clockport is indeed on the left side and not the right side. So just because they are on the left side it is 100% guaranteed it will not work, correct? So now what do I do?? Can I take it to some hobby store he removes the pins and locate them on the right side and it should be enough to get it working or do I sell the motherboard and buy another Amiga 1200 motherboard? Or do AmigaKit provide this service for me?
