Ahh, I'm glad for a thread like this one ;-) I have many fond
memories of so many games. On the list of my favorite RPG's lives an
oft looked over title, MegaTraveller. It did fairly well and inspired
a sequel. I really liked the fact that MegaTraveller came with
a character generator, which could spit out a printable file
for the pen/paper version of the game.
Another title in a simular vein was Infocom's "Battletech: The
Crescent Hawks Inception". While it was done by Infocom, it wasn't a
text-adventure. At the time of beating the game, the player could
send in the I.D. of the "hidden mech" at the end of the game along
with the "proof of purchase" to recieve a Ral Partha miniture. I have
that miniture around here somewhere... :-D
Text adventures..: FireBird released some nice ones too. "Silicon
Dreams" and "Jewels of Darkness" come to mind.
