Have you tried with 3.2 or 3.3?
My network is now noticably faster - consistently stays at 1.2MB/s transfer rate (on a 10Mbps ADSL line) without dropping down to a few bytes/s like it used to.
I never get more than 2MB/s download speeds on a 40Mb/s FTTC line using MOS 3.2 or 3.3.
I get double that rate with Linux and OSX on the same hardware.
