Which would make a better (faster/better through put) controller for a hard drive in my A2000, the SCSI II interface on my GVP '040 accelerator (connected to an SCSI III or better drive) or the IDE connector on an X -SURF 3CC board (connected to an ATA100 or 133 drive)?

Does anyone know if GVP used a wide or narrow fast controller (I'm inclined to think the former)?

SCSI wins for speed and CPU consumption everytime, but if it's just a boot drive only then the IDE would suffice.

IDE would make it easier to mount the drive in a PC/Mac for use with emulators or MorphOS etc.

Why not go silent with an SSD?  There are SATA/SCSI converters.  Drives are cheap, but the adapters can be pricey.

PFS3 is about the best option out there, 3.9 is fine, although you could try some of the light variants out there if you don't mind losing eyecandy...  Used betterwb for abit, pretty snappy...

Saw you were going with the PIV, these are the best Zorro Video card.  I have never had or tried one, but wish I had one...

I have a PIV, it is a great card indeed.

I also hav a 32GB SDHC card connected to an ACard IDE to SCSI adapter plugged into my CSMK2/060 and it's lightning fast.

Well, when it's not in pieces awaiting a rebuild that is! :)
