Wireless network driver beta version released
« on: September 19, 2004, 01:08:04 PM »
A beta version of a new wireless network driver is available for download.  It supports PCMCIA cards in the A1200/A600 and PCI cards on the AmigaOne.

For potential compatibility information, see Absolute Value System's directory of wireless chipsets. If a card's chipset is listed there as Orinoco, Agere or Prism (except the SSF version) and its bus type is PCMCIA or PCI, it is likely to work. If the card is listed there but doesn't match these requirements, it will definitely not work.

download.

@Doobrey

Thanks. It's only about half as fast as cnet/3com at the moment. I don't know if this will improve.

@createcoms

As mentioned in the news post, there's already a version for PCI cards under OS4 (well, I said AmigaOne, but you knew I didn't mean Linux) :-) There'll be OS4 support for PCMCIA when OS4 runs on machines with PCMCIA.

@fx

Funny, I've got a similar machine to you (40Mhz 030), and I get less than half that speed with ftp.

@spirantho

I haven't looked at the Prism GT, but I'm under the impression that it's quite different.
