Oh come now, it deserves love for the sound track alone. I played that through two grands worth of stereo and it was AWESOME! Now you've gone and reminded me about it I'm gonna have to play it again.
I remember many years ago Radio 1 announced that it would be transmitting the Xenon 2 theme tune as an experiment in "pseudo surround sound" one Saturday night...

Me and the mates all gathered in my bedroom with the hi fi tuned to Radio 1 and the speakers placed at roughly six feet either side as instructed, then the music started and gawd were we disappointed, two people reckon they heard the occasional bit of base that sounded like it came from behind them while the other four of us never heard a thing...

Suffice to say after the DJ was inundated with angry listeners asking if this was a wind up they never played that tune again... :-)
As for the game itself, even though it was pretty naff I still played it quite often, dunno why I did but that's what this thread is about...

PS: Days Of Thunder has to be the worst Amiga game of all time, there is nothing good that can be said about that piece of crap...
