Not quite sure what the problem is... but...

Try typing Assign (return) in a shell window and see what devices are mounted, in particular look for an "HD0" reference... :)

Could be that for some reason the "ToolTypes" in the icons you are clicking have "HD0:" in them and not "DH0:" as you require... :)

The only time you usually get "HD0:" showing up is when you first format & partition an HD in HDToolBox but most folk change this to the more traditional "DH0:" for the Amiga... :)

It would also help to check your StartUp-Sequence to see if any Assigns have been made there referring to "HD0:"... :)

So you have an DH0: & and HD0: partitions, I do too but I don't have any problems with utils looking on the HD0: partition for things... :)

Sounds to me like your ToolTypes in the .info files are pointing to HD0: and not DH0: you really need to check them and change them if so... :)

Also as I said it would be work checking your StartUp-Sequence and User-Startup to see if any Assigns or Paths are being made in them that point to HD0: ... :)

startup files are clean of that, ditto for tooltypes, ie black's editor has no default dir set in the icon and nothing set in prefs. It defaulted to sys: until recently :/ Again thx Franko!

Hmmm... have you added a new HD or created some new partitions recently or have you recently re-installed your system (anything along those lines might help in trying to pinpoint the problem)... ;)

yup, I'll try snoopdos. I do wonder why I haven't done that yet (!!!) thx Franko!

Well after what you said about "cloning" then SnoopDOS would be you're best way to go as you'll be able to see just what exactly is looking for stuff on HD0: and when, reckon you'll soon pinpoint the source of the problem with SnoopDOS... :)
