I'm shocked at how slow the icons and gadgets are drawn to the screen!

I'm not impressed at all.

I'm saying nowt ere, cos Karlos thinks what I say about OS4.0 is rubbish and looking at that I'd better keep my opinions to meself... :)

Hmm... I don't get what all you guys are getting excited about here, for one thing it's running on a PPC604 & Radeon GFX card of some kind...

Now my BlizzardPPC is only a 603 and I have no GFX card, so just how many of you guys are using a 604 PPC and Radeon GFX card on your A1200s, and how many folk out there have such a set up to run this on, not many I would think.

Wonder how many copies Hyperion expect to sell !!!

Methinks you'll be sorely disappointed if you see it running on a 603 & no GFX card just like OS4.0 was disappointing on such a set up... :(

It's hardly what I call a classic set up for most owners... :(

It was the same when I purchased OS4.0 when it first came out, no mention of it requiring a GFX card being a requirement, in fact looking at the original box I have sitting right beside me, the only thing it says on the box are the words "3D graphics cards"

Nothing about you requiring or needing a GFX card and if I recall correctly when it was first launched there was nothing on Hyperions website informing the buyer of this either.

Hopefully if you have a set up that will run this latest version all will be well and good for you. I just hope Hyperion doesn't leave folks who buy it in the lurch again like they did with OS4.0 (1 update then all support dropped) also as I say It's not exactly a Classic set up that most Amiga users would own... :)

Nah... decided I'm gonna wait & wait & wait & wait some more for the Natami to come along... :)

Still not buying OS4.1 though, 3.1 and 3.5 suits me just fine...(don't want me Amiga screen looking like a MAC or worse a PC)... :)

@ mechy

I agree everyone should have had a GFX card, but have you ever tried to get hold of one these days here in the UK, they're more rare than an American with a sense of humour...

But seriously... Don't understand though why you think buying a Blizzard 603 PPC and using IDE is crazy, for one its rare enough to find one for sale and two its even more rare to find one with the SCSI kit, then there's the little matter of buying a brand new SCSI HD there as rare as finding a group of Americans with a sense of humour...

Again though back to being serious now... OS4.0 was a rip off and Hyperion have lost a customer in me, HD disk speed is perfectly fine with a buffered IDE interface and life without a GFX card is not all that bad. I use 24 bit pics in ImageFX (I've already posted a few on here - the Doomy line up for example) and far from taking all day it's quicker to download a pic, transfer it to the Amiga, edit it in ImageFX and transfer it back to the Mac than it is trying use Gimp to edit the same pic... :)

One day I'll get hold of a GFX card but it will most likely never get much use as over the years I've become so accustomed to AGA and am perfectly happy with it, never really been one of those who always want things to be faster and faster or more realistic GFX, kinda like the Amiga for what it is and for what it can do and how it does it, to me it's all part of the charm of the Amiga.. :)
