Of course it's sad... :(

When you can reduce the mighty Amiga to nothing more than a mere whimsy for numpties and their silly mobile phones and when things like the Natami or X1000 (the site still say 'due end of 2010' does that mean were in for some big news in the next 18 days !!!) take years if ever to appear then that is indeed a very sad state of affairs...

Not sad. I mean, it's almost 25 years since! It was about time I'd say...
My GP2x Wiz emulates the Amiga also for a while now... bought it for long trips and flights. Playing Superfrog and Turrican makes the time go by quickly :D

The only sad thing is that the Amiga isn't in the position as Apple is now. WITH custom chipset and OS.

It's still sad... :(

The trouble with all these silly emulators and apps is, if folk are quite happy to only use an Amiga to play the odd game while sitting on a train or bus and to them that's all they require. Then the market for real Amiga hardware either new or second hand is reduced even further because the aforementioned folk would most likely never bear to part with the cash to buy the real stuff... :(

Now, if I could just figure a way to make all these damned iPhones explode at once....  :roflmao:

Not just iPhones, all ruddy mobile phones should be made to explode and blow the heads of the sad gits who think that they can't live without them...

The whole problem with hoping that someone who sees such an app will be encouraged to go out and buy some real amiga gear is it's just that, hoping... :(

as Pentad said

Therein lies the problem, most folk will choose an emulator on a pc for the above reason and are very unlikely to seek out real Amiga hardware for the same reasons.

Most of the so called die hard Amigans I grew up with have taken this path and despite the fact that when they visit me I can't get them off my miggies, the miserable sods wont buy any Amiga hardware and spout the excuse given above. So from experience I can say that apps & emulators aren't a good way to encourage folk back to the Amiga and in fact tend to have the opposite effect...

I dunno, I went out and bought an Arcade Cabinet after playing around with Mame but then again I'm impulsive and obsessive.:)

That's why you're here, your already a believer and a compulsive retro geek like the rest of us... :)

If an emulator or an app can bring someone who never knew about the almighty Amiga into the fold that's all well and good, but you'd need to poke them with a long pointy stick and use a crow bar to pry their wallets open and get them to buy the real thing...

It's the one's who have lost the faith and turned to the dark side that get right on my diddies, using an emulator on a puk should be punishable by death if you don't have any real Amiga hardware as well. Hit them over the napper with large blunt objects or roast them slowly over a nice hot spit, that what I say... :madashell:

Or failing any of that nail their hands and feet down in front of their orrible puks and leave them to watch a never-ending loop of Doomy singing Only Amiga until the sinners repent...nothing but a bunch of window lickers the lot of them...

Lighten up guys. If I had 3 million disposable incomde I'd make a super supr FPGA Amiga with 100% cycle exact compatiblity a CPU slot for PPC or whatever. Until then enjoy whatever Amiga implementations we can get.

WHAT... it's the only pleasure us old groaners have left is knocking all these orrible app thingy wotsits while we faithfully await the second coming.... :)
