..aside from OS4.0, since I'm not about to spend that much on an OS for a machine I don't have an RTG board for.

What's awesome and requires PPC on

Don't know what speed your card is, using my Blizzard060/PPC @ 60/240Mhz other than OS4.0 (which I don't use very much), on OS 3.1 & OS 3.5 I mainly use Lame for making MP3s, A version of Frodo (the C64 emulator) that runs at full frame rate & full speed for 99% of the games and all without an RTG graphics board. (there are other PPC prog I use, but I can't remember them off the top of my head at the moment) :)

having a BPPC card and no BVision??? what the heck is that about?? get that BVision and run RTG stuff now, it is the coolest you can do on a oldskool amiga....

I've had my BPPC for about six years now with no RTG card... Trying to get hold of one is more difficult than finding a decent program to watch on the BBC on a Sunday morning... :(

Amiga OS4.0 on a Blizzard060/PPC @60/240Mhz, is like running your Amiga on chipmem only. Windows & icons are dreadfully slow to display on a 640x512 screen, not to mention the amount of crashes with JIT when running a lot of older Amiga Software.

Also a lot of the software for it requires a much bigger screensize (although you can slide windows on and of the screen) it's really quite annoying when a window opens up and you have to move it all over the place just to be able to use it. You can run an emulator like Frodo faster and better on the 060 side using OS3.x.

If you're going to run OS4.0 on this type of board without an RTG then expect to be quite disappointed, also Hyperion last updated it in 2007 not long after it was released and seem to have dropped support for it since. OS4.1 will not run on a classic Amiga set up.
