New Classic DVD Burner Utils Available For Download !!!
« on: July 26, 2010, 06:52:34 PM »
HI everyone :)

The new DVD burner/rip Utils I have written are now available for download from Aminet.

http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/ADVDutils

Many thanks to 'Cgutjahr' for getting these progs onto Aminet for me.

Thank you all who responded to my thread 'Opinions Wanted For New DVD Utils' for the kind comments and support, when I asked for your opinions on these utils.

Please feel free to download and try them. Don't be too disappointed if they don't work for you. As this is still a 'work in progress' project.

Please read all the docs before you try and use them. As if your set up isn't right then you may corrupt you HD's partition especially when using the DVDripISO util.

Once again THANK YOU to everyone who showed an interest in this software and for all your help & support.

Cheers  :drink:

Hi amigadave, yes they are written in 68K only but I have successfully used them on OS4.0 on the set up listed below. I don't know about porting them as I only write in A68K.

A1200 Blizzard060/PPC603 60Mhz/240Mhz / 256Meg Fast Ram / 2 x 500Gb HDs / 2 x DVD Burners / Subway USB / FASTATA MKIII

(the OS4.0 test was of course on the PCC side using KS ROM 3.1)

Download them and read the docs, then decide if you would like to try them on your system (they are after all FREE you know). :)

Cheers :drink:

Hi Folks :)

First off, thank you to everyone who has downloaded my utils from Aminet. :biglaugh:

Thank you to everyone who that emailed me with either bug reports or letting me know that they worked on your set up. :)

I just took delivery of another DVD drive form Amigakit this morning and have been testing it out. It works fine (again on the 4XEDIE or FASTATA MKIII) so this is another Drive that I can recommend for use on similar systems as mentioned in the doc files.

The Drive is a, LiteOn DH-20A4P , it's not listed on the AmigaKit site, You will have to contact AmigaKit directly as they inform me that they only have a few of these drives left.

For the OS4.X users who have tested the utils and that I haven't had a chance yet to contact you directly, The bugs that you have been reporting I am still trying to replicate on my system, but as I explained in the docs the progs were written really only for use on classic Amigas using OS3.0 to OS3.9. I'll do my best to try and fix these reported bugs, but this will take a bit longer to sort out.

The ISO creating util is still work in progress (about 70% complete), the GUI that most seem to be asking for will appear in a future release as there are quite a number of things I want to improve in the progs yet.

Once again thank you to everyone who sent bug reports/feedback. Very much appreciated... :)

Cheers :drink:

First a quick apology to folk who have been sending bug reports/comments on these utils. I no longer have access to the email address given in the doc files (amigafrank@hotmail.com) sorry folks I've forgot my password and can't get back in to it. :o

Just have to hope that folk check in here as I also mentioned Amiga.Org in the docs, If you have sent a bug report or comment could you please re send it to this email address instead theamigacollector@yahoo.co.uk. sorry for the inconvenience caused to those who have taken the time to respond. :)

Ok, a quick update on the emails I've managed to read so far...

For those of you who sent the bug reports & are using OS4.1, sorry but I don't have access to 4.1 only 4.0 and Im still trying to reproduce the bugs on OS4.0, haven't been able to so far. Reckon if your using OS4.0 you'd be best stick with AmiDVD as it's a really good prog for burning DVDs on OS4.X.

To those with the Pioneer drives, I still can't get the software to work with these drives yet and am still trying to figure out what the problem is.

So far 31 folk have reported the prog works fine on their A1200s using the following drive brands, LiteOn, Samsung, LG & Emprex (could you give the actual model no's when sending a report as I could then let folk know which drives to look for, thank you.) :)

I still haven't started on the GUI yet, as Im still trying to figure out the bug reports I have received so far and would like to iron out any bugs first before working on the GUI.

To date the progs have had 398 downloads from Aminet, I have received  31 success stories and 54 bug reports (mostly to do with OS4.X). I am still working on improving the software and will upload any new versions onto Aminet when available. :)

Thank you to everyone who has downloaded these utils and a special thanks to those of you who have submitted bug reports/ comments. :D

(Special thank you to Danz from Poland for the source code you sent, could you try and get back in touch with me at the new email address...:D)

Cheers :drink:
