Only thing that's annoyed me before is when there is an item you are interested in, and there have been no other bids for the 5-8 days you've been keeping an eye on it, and then finally there is under a day to go, and you go back to the item to place a bid only to find they have extended it by another 9 days. 
Then you have to waste all those days waiting again.
What's worse is when you bid several hundred dollars (Euros, GBP, etc) on something that has been for sale for 9 days and in the last minute of the auction someone comes along and outbids you by $1!!
