The CPU on this is a PowerPC 405. Hmmm.. should find out if there's a PowerPC 405 edition of MorphOS

Think of this deivce a being closer to a PDA :-D

This is a reference platform, a piece of hardware for companies to use to develop custom solutions.

Where might a device like this be used? One example might be a touch screen bank ATM, or a touch screen ticket machine for the movie theatre or bus tickets, and so on...

Hardly.. if you did a search for 'powerpc 405 embedded, who knows you might turn up a lot of devices like this.

In devices like these an 'RTOS' (Real Time Operating System) is needed because they require reliability. You surely wouldn't want to run WindowsCE or PocketPC on a device that requires reliability.

An example of another good RTOS would be QNX.. remember when the new version of the AmigaOS was going to be based on this?
