I got told once that when you dont get a screen at all, but the typical "reset color changes" over and over again, the kickrom might be fried. I'am still waiting for my A500 kick rom IC to replace, and check that theory, tho.
Unfortunately by knowledge of Amigas is not enough to know if that can even happen on an A2000
