Sounds like he has scammed you, he could use an emulator if his Amiga is broken. I suggest using ReAction instead, it's better anyway and doesn't need any payments to con artists.

nah, nothing like that. stefan's key generator was on his classic amiga, and it bit the dust some time ago. that's all. so he's sending out generic keys these days instead. and the long wait on email replies is due to the fact that he's just not as involved as he once was; he's typically traveling as he's an avid cyclist.

careful now. them's fightin' words 'round here!

My understanding is: he seemed pretty quick to take the money, not too busy cycling for that. Also not too busy to release a new version. But didn't send the poster any key, generic or not, and not even the courtesy of a reply. That's fraud, pure and simple. And as I mentioned, if there is a problem with his Amiga he could use UAE.

>the 'taking' of the money is automatic.

He's obviously set it up previously to be automatic. Automating something doesn't absolve you of responsibility for it.

>when he gets back from his trips, he then forwards keys to folks.

These generic keys that are presumably no different from pirate ones? Why not just use a pirate key in that case? It's not like the registration money goes to the people who actually develop the software anyway. May as well send the money to any other random Amiga user for their pirate key.

>the issue is also that the key generator is effectively lost at this point.

And by this point he has had time to write a new key generator, or change things so that it doesn't automatically take people's money, or change it so it doesn't need a key, or do something else to fix the situation.

>i should also point out that stefan is no longer involved in MUI development, even though he receives funds for keys.

Shouldn't the developers who actually work on the software be the ones getting the money?

>the current development team are awesome guys, so, let's be careful about throwing around the 'fraud' term.

I never said *they* were fraudulent. In fact they must be pretty awesome to do all this work just to line someone *else's* pockets who pretty clearly has left the platform long ago.

it's such a required library for the Amiga.

No, it isn't.
