While you can make or buy a cable to go from the Amiga to the monitor, the problem is that most of the Amiga's screenmodes have too low a frequency to be displayed on monitors (unless you have a multiscan monitor like me :-) ).  A scandoubler is needed to double the frequency to make it usable on modern monitors, and even then interlaced will be terrible without a flicker fixer :-(
