I seem to remember hearing that UAE can now load from Amiga formatted HDs. Maybe I'm wrong. One of the emulator enthusiasts would be able to help you
The new versions of WinUAE (don't know about other OSes - my LinuxUAE is old) can load in Amiga formatted or empty partitions. You need 2000 or XP to do this, though.
