3Com PCMCIA Ethernet card... Get me started...
« on: August 23, 2003, 01:11:39 PM »
Hey there...

I've in a previous thread asked you guys about what type of card I should buy... I ended up with this one:

3Com 3c589C PCMCIA card EthernetLinkIII 10BASE-T and RJ-45 cable connector... Ok...

If I wan't my A1200, the card, and MiamiDx to cooperate in a LAN/Internet network, how do I get started? I'm a greenie in Networking so please bear with me...

Alright:
I've got my main A1200 connected to the internet by modem And has a working PCI-ethernet card I want to connect the above mentioned things to it...

My first problem:
No hardware reconision, Using the 3c589.device as SANA-II driver Unit 0 within MiamiDX gives me: "Miami Deluxe is unable to open SANA-II device `DEVS:Networks/3c589.device` unit 0...
I've got the files in place both library and device... Runing PrepCard gives me `No card inserted`... The little green light on the dongle cable tells me that the card is in place and gets power... What is happening?...

Thanks!

@Spider ;-)

Tak, jeg har fundet fejlen...
CardPatch og CardReset gjorde alt godt igen!
(Næsten) :-)

@ncafferkey

I don't have any Squirrel's in my ami no ;-), but
I've found out about the A1200's reset hardware bug now... So I deciced to give CardPatch and CardReset a try (As described in the :rtfm:) ... And it works more or less everytime I try it... I've put them as last entry in my user-startup and it's like it doesn't work every time I boot... I've also after playing around with MiamiDX and your driver (3c589) had some nice red screens... Not as in guru's but as in "ROM error" were my A1200 wouldn't boot at all and demanded a power off... So It's a bit of a pain... But I don't think it's your device doing it :-?

But now I have to find out how to connect in LAN... Miami doesn't want to setup a propper network... I'm tired of it now, but will return when I get my hair glued back on after having pulled it continuesly for hours :-)...

Cheers!
