A lot of PC motherboards still ship with older USB ports. A lot of them say "USB 2.0" when they don't support the 480Mbit speed rating.
IIRC someone once pointed out that the name change broke EU law so it's best to say 1.1.
Also the 480mbs is confusing as well, Firewire at 400mbs is measurably faster.
