Commodor 1950 and A1200 help
« on: July 12, 2011, 04:07:03 AM »
I just picked up an 1950 monitor.  I plugged it in tot he Amiga 1200 with a 23pin to VGA adapter and I get no picture.  In fact something is up with the system when it's plugged in.  The machine appears not to boot.  I can't tell what is displayed since I can't see anything.  I can't figure out how to get any kind of display on the monitor.

Also, I have no idea how to boot the Amiga from a floppy, it's always booting from the CF.  I figured if I put a kickstart disk in it might display an default screen res just in case it's a bad monitor mode on  my workbench.

I very new to Amiga and I really need some help on what to do.

Wow, it's giving a nasty red screen crash.  Can't read the error message 8000 maybe?

Used this method to get to just the default monitor device and I get no screen.  I even tried my Atari ST on the monitor with no screen as well.  Something tells me the monitor is dead.  I checked the TTL/analogue switch (set to analogue.)  and all the other knobs so I'm thinking it's a motor problem.

Bugger....  I don't seem to have luck getting a screen to work on me miggy.

I think you might be right about the adapter.  I have the amigakit 23pin to vga 15 pin adapter but I'm thinking the pinout is wrong.  Where do I get the right adapter?

Also, what would cause a guru message only when the monitor is plugged in?

I could not perform any of the fixes mentioned on that sight.  The picture never displays on any input.  I think the adapter could be the wrong one I support.  I did plug my Atari ST *using a vga adapter on the Atari) and got a blank picture as well, however, could be the wrong pinout again.

I do appreciate all the help.
