IE settings faux pas = evil zango
« on: June 26, 2004, 03:08:50 AM »
A little bit ago I told the tale of how my AO longin didn't survive opening another window when viewing AO with the multiple window method. Well, I turned the IE security settings to "low" to see it it would work (it didn't). Well, I forgot to put the security settings back up, and I got this Zango Showtimes thing. I didn't expect it to install on my computer when I clicked it. I found out it was installed on my computer when Zonealarm said it that Zango wanted to access the Internet. So, I denied permission and tried to uninstall. No go. It the uninstall deal says that I should wait for all the Zango files to download and it wouldn't uninstall.

Anyhoo, how do I get rid of this thing? Is it evil beans? The Zango website even has a page for how to uninstall it, so you know they've had complaints. Too bad it doesn't mention the "wait for..." bit. It says it's all peaches and cream when uninstalling it, no problem. :-/

Spybot didn't find it and neither did AVG, so that route didn't work. Of course my IE settings are put back up. grrr.

@chase916

I used to use Adaware, but it went loopy when I upgraded to the new version a year ago so I switched to Spybot. Does AdAware recognize this one? I might get again it if it does.

I mentioned it in the thread I started about Firefox. The reason I'm using IE is because it loads faster on my 44 MHz machine.

If a site doesn't work with security/cookie settings set to normal... DON'T GO THERE!

I was trying to get AO to work. Besides, I'm sure it's not AO that's the problme, but IE. Now, if if want to post, I just relogin for each window I want to post on. Replying PMail's is weird, though, because I gotta click on the register link and login from there, then click the reply button again so the reply page fills that window. All these problems is one of the reasons I started thinking about Macs. This computer I'm on now was old in 1998 when it was given to me. :-)

AOS4, save me!
