@DonnyEMU

I watched the keynote iphone intro dealy video thing. Did you see it? Can you tell me if what you have is as fast as how the iphone looks like it might be? That was the cool thing, really, that it seemed to zip right along.

call me old fashioned but I like phones with a button that I don't have to look at while dialing to know where they are..

someone will make a iphone knockoff..

He did say all that gizmo technicality stuffies is patented 220 times and made sure to say that they will defend the patents. But, a cheap knockoff could be a squishy push button screen (like those universal remotes) that doesn't do video. Not really a knockoff, but if someone saw them side by side and one was 350 dollars less, the uninformed grandparent would buy it for their hip teenage grandkids. :-)

@stopthegop

you can spend 399 instead and avoid the herpes at the same time, or, what's likely going to happen anyway, you can get a free one with a service plan, just like you did with your samsung.

who's going to give you herpes anyway?

And iPhone is not related to OSX software. I still don't get your point. The CPUs aren't the same on the iPhone and desktop Macs, the OS isn't the same, so where's the "holy grail"?

I got the impression that it was the same osx as on the desktops and even though Jobs only said that osx ran on the iphone without going into any depth, my impression was that mac desktop osx apps would work on the iphone, too. Who knows for sure?
