I'd clean out the disk drive first. Get one of those disk head cleaners with the cleaning solution bottle and run it though the drive a couple of click-whirr-whirr cycles. A can of compressed air wouldn't hurt, either, but may not be necessary. Some disks work fine in a dirty drive and others will by flaky. Cleaning will make more disks work right if it's dirty now.
