Nightlong & Quake2
« on: February 23, 2003, 12:15:48 AM »
I posted messages on other forums with no luck of anyone responding.

I had Nightlong for a long while but cannot get a clear screen resolution, its like all the graphics are in a monochrome display.
I running a Mediator A4000T, with A4000T and CyberstormPPC 604e with a Voodoo5500.

I had reports that other gamers have had this issue, can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Also since moving over from the Prometheus card to the Mediator my Quake2 wont work, i get the menu and intro but when you select the single game it starts loading and about a minute later it freezes.

My other PPC games like Shogo and Heretic 2 work without any issues.

Any help or advice would be helpful...

Yes mines the last A4000T made by Amiga Technologies, got it as left over stock from Amiga last year. Its brand new never seen the light of day.

I got a PicassoIV card in my old A1200T, it uses a switch between modes.
Do the AGA modes get switched automatically to the PIV card?
If so i could use mine but dont have any room, as the x-surf is using the video slot.

The mediator card is excellant, i use to have a promethues card but its design is not stable in my machine as the pci cards wobble, plus the designed bracked does not fit in the A4000T as hits the sound card.
Since using the Mediator its stable and the soundblaster digital 5.1 works a dream in this machine.

Yes Quake is fast, i would get rid of the Voodoo3 card and buy a voodoo 4500 or 5500. Much faster in 2D mode. They only £30-40 quid on ebay.
I have a voodoo 4500 & 5500 as well (2 graphics cards) both are similiar expect the 5500 has 2 fans and 2 processors so its faster.
Elbox have not yet developed drivers for the Voodoo4500&5500, i still think they are voodoo3 drivers which are compatible.

Just to let you know take your time when installing the Mediator.
Dont install any PCI cards until you have tested the main board.

Yeah so i am frustrated with Nightlong as it does the same display on both cards and also did it on the prometheus.

Remember to replace the A4000T fan its ####.

I got a Thermaltake from

http://www.overclock.co.uk/

The fan is perfect it fits great and you dont have to worry about it not fitting.
Also when you first switch the A4000T on you think god its quite.
Wait a while and then the fan speeds up as it detects the heat... its keeps it cool!

Sounds cool.

How come you got a fan on the 060, it does not get hot!

Do you have NightLong  or Quake 2 working?

I found that Quake 2 worked with the Prometheus and Voodoo4500.

But since moving to the Mediator and Voodoo5500 it does not work.

Nightlong never worked on either so i be surprised if it works on yours.

I just installed a new fan onto the powerpc chip an 060, they are the Stealth Fighter v3 fans, low profile and metal.

Let me know how u get on with your games.
