"Old Mac" hardware any older than, say, 2004ish is going to be cripplingly slow. A Performa 5200 (widely regarded as the worst powermac made) runs at about the speed of a Pentium 100.
The best use for Apple hardware that old is, in order: recycling common parts (drives, RAM, PCI cards), stripping out the 603 CPUs for BPPC/CS repair

and flogging the remains off on eBay.
